The Pirelli calendar and Naomi Campbell (53) are celebrating their anniversary. The calendar for 2024 is the 50th edition. And the supermodel was in front of the camera for the fifth time for “The Cal”, as the legendary calendar is also called.
The project was implemented by the Ghanaian artist Prince Gyasi (28). He is one of the youngest photographers to receive this honor so far, as the Italian tire manufacturer writes on its website. “I’m one of the youngest people to do this and it’s unbelievable, it’s unbelievable,” Gyasi explained. He follows photographer Emma Summerton (calendar 2023) and rock singer Bryan Adams (calendar 2022).
It goes on to say that the people the 28-year-old photographed for the new calendar were chosen because of their influence on his thoughts and life. The photos were taken in London and Ghana.
In addition to Campbell, Gyasi photographed His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II (73), the Nigerian singer and actress Tiwa Savage (43) and the author Margot Lee Shetterly (54). The artist also photographed the writer and poet Amanda Gorman (25), who appeared at the inauguration of US President Joe Biden (80).
There are also British Hollywood star Idris Elba (51) and his US colleague Angela Bassett (65). The director, author and music producer Jeymes Samuel (44) was also staged by Prince Gyasi. Other personalities who were photographed by him include the Ghanaian artist Amoako Boafo (39), the US singer and actress Teyana Taylor (32) and the former professional soccer player Marcel Desailly (55).
It is not yet known when exactly the new Pirelli calendar will appear. It marks almost 60 years of existence. The first edition was published in 1964.
