British pop singer Dua Lipa, daughter of Kosovar Albanian parents, now has Albanian citizenship.
She was very proud, Lipa wrote on Instagram and thanked President Bajram Begaj and Tirana’s Mayor Erion Veliaj. Begaj tweeted about the 27-year-old singer: “She has made us proud with her global career and her commitment to important social causes.” Both also posted pictures showing the handover of the documents.
Lipa was born in London in 1995 to Kosovar-Albanian parents. After a few years in Kosovo, she returned there as a teenager. She broke through as a singer in 2015 with “Be the One” and has had international success with songs such as “New Rules”, “One Kiss” and “Cold Heart”, as well as winning several Grammy Awards.
