Family and colleagues mourn the death of Canadian actor Chris Gauthier (1976 – 2024). As the TriStar agency, where Gauthier was under contract, announced in a statement that was available to the industry magazine “Deadline”, among others, the actor, known from “Once Upon A Time”, “Smallville” and “Eureka”, is on Friday morning , February 23rd, died at the age of 48. Accordingly, Gauthier died of an unspecified short illness.

The actor’s friends and colleagues say goodbye on social media. Chad Colvin of TriStar Appearances wrote in a post on Facebook: “When his wife reached out to me with the news yesterday, I cried in disbelief for hours. […] Chris was literally the textbook definition of a character actor.” The actor, who was known, among other things, for his role as Smee in the US fantasy series “Once Upon A Time”, also appeared in front of the camera with the late actor Robin Williams (1951-2014) and Anthony Hopkins (86).

“Once Upon A Time” colleague Colin O’Donoghue (43), who played the role of Hook, also dedicated a post to Gauthier on Instagram: “Rest in peace, Chris!”, the actor wrote on a photo that included him Gauthier shows in the fantasy series. “My love and thoughts go out to Erin and the boys! We will miss you, brother! You were the true captain!”

Gauthier is survived by his wife Erin and their two sons Ben and Sebastian.
