The bonds between people and their pets are often very close, sometimes even familial. But marry his pet? Only a few owners would come up with this idea. But Christin Jedamzik did just that.

There was a big wedding ceremony for her and her dog Batu at the Oldenburg animal shelter, which was conducted by a real registrar. Jedamzik and Batu met each other at the animal shelter and they became very close. And the mistress had no idea about the wedding: the animal shelter had organized this surprise. On her birthday, she was lured into the facility under a pretext. “I was expecting a meal, and then I was picked up by the registrar friend,” she told RTL.

A wedding dress was already ready, and there was also an altar, contributions to the programme, a wedding cake – everything that goes with a wedding. Jedamzik’s parents also came from near Lübeck, and their father led them to the altar. The 27-year-old was Bantu’s “felt wife”, the wedding was only the “last final step”, the animal shelter wrote on Facebook.

Dog and mistress had met in the home. Previously, Bantu had to go through a difficult time, as reported by the shelter: no stranger was allowed to touch him for ten years. Only when Jedamzik started walking him five years ago did he thaw out. “You like that: little hearts in your eyes. You like that: heart open, Bantu in, door closed, door locked and a security lock in front of it,” the animal shelter describes the love at first sight between the two. After a few walks, Bantu was also allowed to spend the night with Jedamzik, and the two are now inseparable. “It developed into a great love,” enthuses Christin Jedamzik - a love that is now officially sealed.
