Rapper Takeoff (1994-2022) was shot dead in Houston, Texas, on November 1, 2022 after a downtown shootout left several people injured. He formed the hip-hop group Migos with his uncle Quavo (31) and his cousin Offset (30). Offset has now commented on Instagram about the tragic death of his colleague.
“Dear Take, it doesn’t feel real to post this like this,” he explains in his post. “This still doesn’t feel like reality. I’ve been searching for the right words but there aren’t any that will do. Until we meet again, rest in power. I love you.” In a letter, which the rapper shared with photos and video clips of Takeoff and Offset, the rapper also wrote, “The pain you left behind is unbearable. My heart is broken and I have so many things to say I think but not the right words.”
Offset, who has been married to Cardi B, 30, since 2017 and has two children, daughter Kulture, 4, and son Wave Set, 1, added: “I go to bed hoping all of this is a dream is, but it’s reality, and reality feels like a nightmare.” He wished he could hug Takeoff one last time, laugh with him, or be on stage with him. “I know someone with a soul like yours is in heaven right now. I hope you can see how much we love and miss you. You left a hole in my heart that will never be filled.” He asks for strength for himself and Takeoff’s family and “even though I know you will always be with us, send me a little token or a nice dream,” he concluded his letter. “I love you forever.”
