Princess Kate (41) paid a visit to the Oxford House Nursing Home in Slough, England, on Tuesday. Prince William’s wife (40) tried baking pancakes. According to the British “Daily Mail”, the princess had trouble turning her pancakes in the pan. “I always try to spin them too fast,” said the 41-year-old.

To cheers and applause from those present, she finally managed to turn the dough over. But the princess was not convinced by the result. “Please don’t tell anyone this is mine,” the royal family member joked, explaining that it showed how not to do it. “Any ones that have been made before are much nicer. Sorry I didn’t do them justice,” said the Princess of Wales. However, the nursing home’s chef was lenient. “It wasn’t easy to do on this stove and in front of everyone and at least she turned it around,” she explained, according to the Daily Mail.

Shrove Tuesday is celebrated in the United Kingdom as Pancake Day or Pancake Tuesday. “The kids are looking forward to making their own pancakes after school tonight,” Kate said during her visit. She can show you how it’s done. “My pancakes always stick to the pan or land on the ceiling or floor.”

“Happy Pancake Day!” wished the royal family on Instagram in a post that showed pictures of Kate at the pan and talking to residents of the nursing home. During her visit, the princess “learned more about Oxford House’s use of cutting-edge, interactive technology to enrich residents’ daily lives,” according to the post. This includes an interactive wall to be used to support residents with dementia.

In a post on her shared account with her husband, Princess Kate thanked her for the invitation and reported on meeting 109-year-old Nora, who was being cared for “in a homely and comfortable environment” at Oxford House.
