Prince William (41) has called for people to act together against climate change and not to lose hope. When he was young, many people would not have believed that there was anything to worry about about climate change on the planet, the British royal wrote in a foreword to the children’s book from his environmental initiative “Earthshot Prize”.
“But while denying change was frightening back then, admitting defeat and giving up hope of solving these problems is an even frightening thought today,” the text says.
Just as people strived for the moon in the 1960s, people must now strive for the earth. “She’s the only home we have, and we have to think big and dream even bigger if we want to protect her.”
The British heir to the throne William launched the so-called Earthshot Prize in 2021. The aim is to honor five projects each year that excel in the categories of nature conservation, ocean protection, air cleanliness, waste avoidance and climate protection. The book “The Earthshot Prize: A Handbook for Dreamers and Thinkers” is now being published. William’s father, King Charles III, has also been promoting environmental protection for decades.
