Tone-on-tone outfits are a thing of the past: beige, gray and the like get a colorful upgrade in spring. This means that the rather simple it-pieces are now combined with colorful items of clothing, thus refreshing our wardrobe. Pastel tones such as yellow or lilac are particularly popular.

Ava Phillippe (24) shows us how to combine colored and neutral items of clothing. She attended the Fendi fashion show in January with her famous mother Reese Witherspoon (47). There she opted for a harmonious ensemble of beige shorts, a pastel yellow turtleneck sweater and a blue-gray trench coat. The yellow top transformed the otherwise rather neutral look into a fashionable highlight in no time. The 24-year-old also wore white pumps, subtle jewelry and dark red fingernails.

Fendi also shows how well the colors yellow, orange or light blue go with sand and caramel tones in other examples on its Instagram account.

Fashion blogger Chiara Ferragni (36) presented her fans and followers on Instagram with a combination of a checked mini skirt, a dark red long-sleeved shirt and a beige trench coat – a slightly more autumnal, but no less stylish version.

In addition to coats and trench coats, trousers and skirts can of course also be styled with colorful it-pieces. The luxury label Tod’s, for example, shows on Instagram an ensemble consisting of a beige pencil skirt, a light gray sack bag and beige ballerina shoes in combination with a rust-red bomber jacket. Additional colorful highlights can be added with shoes, handbags, shawls and scarves as well as hats and gloves.

Our tip: Pastel tones also look perfect on our fingernails. When it comes to make-up, choose eyeshadow that matches your nail polish.
