In her new double album “The Tortured Poets Department” Taylor Swift (34) processes, among other things, the grief that men have caused her in recent years. A name that has been coming up again and again for weeks is that of her ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn (33), with whom she was in a relationship for six years. It is said to take up the majority of their newly released lyrics. But some of her fans, also known as Swifties, also claim to have recognized references to Matty Healy (35), Travis Kelce (34) – and Fernando Alonso (42) in the 31 songs. The latter has now taken a stand.
Swifties are sure that the 18th song “imgonnagetyouback” contains a hidden message for Alonso. The alleged liaison between Swift and the Formula 1 star was never official; there were only rumors of a relationship at the beginning of the year. Nevertheless, she sings, among other things, the line “Small talk, big walk, act like I don’t care what you did, I’m an Aston Martin that you steered straight into the ditch. Then ran and hid” (in German: ” “Little talk, big show, pretend I don’t care what you did. I’m the Aston Martin you drove straight into the ditch and then ran away and hid.”)
As is well known, Alonso has been driving for Aston Martin in Formula 1 since 2023. The racing driver has now published a short clip on TikTok in which he sits on a sofa with a tablet and plays that same line of text from Swift. He smiles into the camera before finally putting his index finger over his mouth and gesturing “Pssst” into the camera. In the end, only the singer herself knows what or who is really meant in Swift’s song.
Who also had to provide new text content was Swift’s ex-partner Joe Alwyn. In the album she deals with the failed relationship in several songs. In “So Long, London” she sings about the British capital where the two lived together. In addition, it seems that the separation may not have been amicable after all. The song “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” says, among other things: “He said he’d love me all his life. But that life was too short. Breaking down, I hit the floor. All the pieces of me shattered as the crowd was chanting more.” “He said he would love me all his life. But life was too short cheered.”)
The 1975 frontman Matty Healy, who is said to have been with Swift for a short time after Alwyn, is also the subject of a song, according to fans. Among other things, some Swifties are sure that the tattooed singer is in the line “I scratch your head, you fall asleep like a tattooed golden retriever” (in German: “I stroke your head, you fall asleep like a tattooed golden retriever” ) is supposed to be meant in the album song “The Tortured Poets Department”.
In addition to her ex-partners, her current boyfriend Travis Kelce also found a place on the new record. The song “The Alchemy” contains many sports references that would suit the NFL star of the Kansas City Chiefs. And the piece “So High School” could also describe the relationship between the two, because it’s about teenage feelings, the first big love and butterflies in the stomach.
