The second season of the Netflix series “Wednesday” has not yet been officially confirmed. But showrunners Al Gough and Miles Millar are already talking about their plans for a sequel.
It’s not entirely unlikely that there could be, because “Wednesday”, directed by Tim Burton, was one of the most successful series of the year and also caused a stir on social media. In the meantime, not only styling tips with the Wednesday Gothic look are doing the rounds. All the hype could be amplified even more with new episodes.
According to the creators, a possible next season will be even more about the friendship between Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) and Enid (Emma Myers), as they revealed in an interview with the “Hollywood Reporter”. “For us, the show is really about that female friendship, with Wednesday and Enid taking center stage. The fact that they’re engaging with the audience is very nice.”
When asked by the magazine, they also do not deny the possibility of a romantic relationship between Enid and Wednesday. On the contrary: “We won’t neglect anything, and of course the characters sometimes reveal themselves. So we’re open to everything. We want to explore this friendship in every way.”
So far, Wednesday hasn’t been so lucky in love matters. Her previous crush Tyler (Hunter Doohan) turned out to be a dangerous monster in the season finale and may therefore not be available for a love comeback.
But the other characters such as Xavier and Bianca should continue to appear, the relationships should be “further explored and complicated”. So is Wednesday’s relationship with her mother (Catherine Zeta-Jones): “The other thing that’s really interesting is further exploring Wednesday and Morticia’s mother-daughter relationship,” the two creators said in an interview. Because now that Morticia knows about Wednesday’s ability, her visions, their relationship could take on a whole new dynamic.
