Pop star Taylor Swift (“Anti-Hero”) is the favorite at this year’s Billboard Music Awards with 20 chances to win. The 33-year-old was nominated in the Top Artist, Top Female Artist and Top Country Artist categories, among others. She is followed by singer SZA and country star Morgan Wallen with nominations in 17 categories each. Canadian singer The Weeknd received 16 nominations. This was announced by the award winners.
The Billboard Awards have been presented annually since 1990 by the trade magazine of the same name and are largely based on chart positions. The trophies are scheduled to be awarded on November 19th.
In the most important Top Artist category, Swift, SZA and Wallen are joined by Canadian rapper Drake and US country singer Luke Combs. Musicians like Zach Bryan, Beyoncé and the German Kim Petras have several chances of winning in a total of 69 categories. Petras, who was born in the Rhineland, is in the running for the best collaboration with her album “Feed the Beast” in the Top Dance/Electronic Album category and together with the British singer Sam Smith for the club hit “Unholy”.
Last year, singer-songwriter Olivia Rodrigo won seven awards, including Top New Artist and Top Female Artist. Drake won the top award for Top Artist.
