Two years late, the seriously ill songwriter Rainald Grebe (52) completed his concert spectacle “Halleluja Berlin” in the Waldbühne. The big concert was supposed to take place on July 31, 2021, but failed at the time due to Corona. Now the time had come – about 10,000 people came.
Grebe fired off punch lines and many of his mellow, enlightening satirical songs, including “Prenzlauer Berg”, “Oben”, “Multitasker” and “20. Jahrhundert”.
Cabaret artist Grebe has had the autoimmune disease vasculitis since 2014 and has suffered several strokes. In June 2011, multi-talented Grebe had already attracted around 15,000 fans to an “open-air spectacle” on the Waldbühne and had a colorful evening.
Known for sharp-tongued lyrics
Grebe, who was born in Cologne and chose Brandenburg, is known for sharp-tongued lyrics, such as the song “Brandenburg”, which he would no longer write the way he says today, because the song was about putting something down.
The song says, among other things: “In Brandenburg, in Brandenburg, someone is again fully gegurkt in the avenue / What should you do with 17, 18 in Brandenburg?” The song was intended to end the approximately four-hour show.
