US musician Taylor Swift (33) has set another record with music streaming market leader Spotify. “She’s done it again,” the company wrote on Saturday (local time) on the online platform X (formerly Twitter) – because on October 27th, Swift became the most streamed artist within one day in Spotify history. In addition, her new album “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” has become the most streamed album on a single day this year.
Swift thus exceeded her record set in 2022. In October of last year, her album “Midnights” was streamed more times in one day than any previous album, according to Spotify. The singer also became the most streamed artist within a day.
“1989 (Taylor’s Version),” a re-recording of Swift’s 2014 album “1989,” was released Friday. After a dispute over the music rights to her previous albums, Swift announced in 2019 that she wanted to re-record her old music as “Taylor’s Version”. Since then, she has released the albums “Fearless” (2009, 2021), “Red” (2012, 2021) and “Speak Now” (2010, 2023).
The reissues usually contain several so-called “From The Vault” songs that didn’t make it onto the original album. In addition to the 13 original songs, “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” contains five previously unreleased songs.
