According to media reports, singer and actress Demi Lovato is making her directorial debut for the streaming service Hulu. As reported by the industry journals “Variety” and “The Hollywood Reporter”, the 30-year-old is shooting a documentary entitled “Child Star”, which is to be released next year. The film aims to explore how children become superstars from an early age and how their rise to fame, fortune and power will affect their future, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Several former child stars are said to be in the spotlight alongside Lovato.
Lovato got his first roles as a teenager and rose to fame as one of the stars of the Disney network. The singer says she felt overworked at the beginning of her career and then developed an eating disorder, as she said in 2020. The musician has spoken publicly about drug addiction and mental health issues in the past. On the album “Dancing With The Devil… The Art of Starting Over”, released in 2021, she worked through addictions and trauma – including alcohol addiction, eating disorders and a near-fatal overdose in 2018.
