The well-known journalist had already moderated the sports section on “RTL Aktuell” in June of this year. Working regularly as a sports presenter again is “simply wonderful,” said Monica Lierhaus in an RTL interview. She “always preferred working live,” she continued, adding: “It’s much more exciting than recordings because something can happen at any time. The adrenaline flows through the body and I feel alive. So I’m really looking forward to it the new task and the colleagues!”
In recent years, Lierhaus has fought back after a serious blow of fate: in 2009, the presenter was diagnosed with an aneurysm while preparing for eye surgery. There were complications during the removal and Lierhaus had to be put into an artificial coma for four months. In rehab, she had to learn to swallow, eat and move again. In March 2023, RTL announced Monica Lierhaus’ comeback.
The broadcaster has now also announced a special highlight with Monica Lierhaus: After the live broadcast of the friendly match between Germany and Turkey (November 18th, 8:15 p.m.), RTL is showing a summary of this year’s ceremony for the “German Football Hall of Fame”. “.
