James Hetfield (59) and his bandmates have done it again: The metal band Metallica has climbed the throne of the official German charts for the tenth time with their current album “72 Seasons”, determined by GfK Entertainment.
“72 Seasons” is the eleventh studio album by the band, which first made the top 100 in 1983. The title of the album, released on April 14, refers to the first 18 years of a person’s life, according to lead singer Hetfield. Simultaneously with the new album, the band announced their world tour “M72 World Tour”, which starts on April 27, 2023.
Behind Metallica, the South Tyrolean singer Rudy Giovannini (48) takes second place with “Hast du Zeit”, Herbert Grönemeyer (67) gets the bronze medal with his 17th studio album “Das ist los”. Depeche Mode took fourth place with “Memento mori”, US musician Joe Bonamassa (45) made it to fifth place with “Tales Of Time (Live)”.
There have been hardly any changes in the single charts since last week: Udo Lindenberg (76) and Apache 207 (25) continue to dominate here with “Komet”. With eleven number one positions, they are on par with DJ Ötzi and Nik P.’s hit “Ein Stern (…der namen)” from 2007. If the duo stays at the top next week, “Komet” would be the most frequently placed German-language song at the top for more than three decades.
RAF Camora (38) and Luciano (29) came in second with “All Night”, followed by Miley Cyrus (30) with “Flowers” on the third and Apache 207 with “Breaking Your Heart” in fourth place. The only newcomer this week is sought-after newcomer David Kushner (22), who debuts in fifth place with his single “Daylight”.
