Two US stars presented sweet surprises on the red carpet of the Met Gala 2023: ex-tennis star Serena Williams (41) becomes a mother for the second time. She announced this on Monday (May 1) with a series of Instagram photos and a simultaneous red carpet appearance with a baby bump.
The pictures show Williams together with husband Alexis Ohanian (40) shortly before their visit to the big fashion event in New York. “I was so excited when Anna Wintour invited the three of us to the Met Gala,” she captioned the photos. Williams wore a tight black Gucci dress with a white tulle skirt and a massive pearl necklace, while Ohanian wore a classic tuxedo. In some photos, Williams cradles her baby bump in her hands.
Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian have been married since 2017 and already have a daughter, five-year-old Olympia. Williams retired from tennis last year and announced in a Vogue essay that she and Ohanian were planning another child.
US model Karlie Kloss (30) also appeared with a clearly recognizable baby bump at the Met Gala, which this year was in the spirit of the late fashion tsar Karl Lagerfeld (1933-2019). She appeared in a skintight black dress that flattered her curves; strings of white pearls accentuated her belly.
Karlie Kloss and her husband Josh Kushner (37) married in 2018 and welcomed their first child, son Levi, in 2021.
