On May 4th, sci-fi fans are celebrating “Star Wars” day again, based on the saying “May the force be with you” (“May the force be with you”), also affectionately “May, the 4th” called. Just in time for the unofficial holiday, Electronic Arts has released its new video game “Star Wars Jedi: Survivor” for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Numerous other games from the world of the “Star Wars” saga are also already planned. Here information about the latest “Star Wars” game and selected, announced titles that are to be released in the coming years.
Following the events of 2019’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, players will relive part of Cal Kestis’ story in Survivor, this time five years after the events of the first installment. Developed by Respawn Entertainment in partnership with Lucasfilm Games and released on April 28, the action-adventure has largely won over critics. After the release, fans complained about technical problems, especially on the PC. EA then announced that they wanted to fix these problems as quickly as possible with improvements.
EA has also announced three more games that Respawn Entertainment is already working on. A sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is currently in the works. In addition, a completely new first-person shooter in the “Star Wars” universe and a new strategy game are planned. So far, however, there is no precise information about the projects, which are likely to take a while. Not even the possible titles of the games are officially known.
A “Star Wars” open world game is also currently in development at the Ubisoft studio Massive Entertainment. Announced for the first time in early 2021, it should still be some time before the game is released. Creative director Julian Gerighty stated at the time that they wanted to create “a unique game in the saga, with a compelling story” for old and new fans of the “Star Wars” world. The stories of new characters are to be told.
Meanwhile, the older fans among the fans will certainly remember “Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic” warmly. Released in 2003, the role-playing game soon secured cult status. A remake confirmed in 2021 is apparently not under a good star. In the summer of 2022, there was a report from “Bloomberg” that the developer studio had changed after problems. However, official news about the project may still be in a galaxy far, far away.
Another untitled “Star Wars” game is in development at Skydance New Media. Although there is again no precise information about this action adventure, it is known that Amy Hennig (58) is involved. As the creator of the popular “Uncharted” series, she shaped the PlayStation 3 era at Studio Naughty Dog, among other things.
The action adventure “Star Wars Eclipse”, also announced for 2021, wants to focus on a “ramified story” from the perspective of different characters. Anything else would also be quite strange, since Quantic Dream is working on the new game. The French studio is known for story-heavy games like “Heavy Rain” or “Detroit: Become Human”. According to the official website, the game is still in an “early development phase”.
