In his memoirs “Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing”, actor Matthew Perry (53) speaks more openly than ever about his serious addiction problems. For many years, the “Friends” star struggled with alcohol and pill addiction. Before the book is published on November 1, Perry has now met with US journalist Diane Sawyer (76) for an interview. In a preliminary clip, he talks, among other things, about the “scary” moment when “Friends” colleague Jennifer Aniston (53) asked him about his alcohol problem.
Aniston approached him one day on the set of the series, which ran from 1994 to 2004, and revealed that she and the rest of the cast knew “that you drink,” Perry recalls. “Imagine how scary that moment was,” he continues. Aniston was the one who gave him a helping hand most often. He was “very grateful” to her.
The full interview with Matthew Perry will air on ABC on Friday (October 28).
