Matt Damon (52) threatened to slip into depression while filming an unnamed film, as he now said in an interview. During this difficult time, he received help from his wife, Luciana Barroso (46).
Without revealing the film’s title, Damon told Jake’s Takes about the frustration of filming, “And I remember I was halfway through production and I still had months to go that I had taken my family somewhere and it was bothersome to her, and I remember my wife helping me when I was falling into depression…”
His wife would have simply told him, “We’re here now,” which would have put his work back in perspective, he says.
Damon further said he owes it in large part to his wife that he is a professional actor. From her he would have learned to “give everything, even if you know that it won’t be worth the effort”. For him, this attitude makes a professional: “And she really helped me with that.”
Damon and Barroso have been married for 18 years. The couple have four daughters.
