The Marqués de Vargas winery represents a dream come true. Don Hilario de la Mata, father of the current Marquis, always dreamed of having a winery with the family title. In 1989, Pelayo de la Mata and his brothers created the winery on the family estate. Thanks to the extraordinary vision of its founder, a great connoisseur and passionate about wine, as well as the team that works like a perfect gear, each vintage its precision and elegance is greater.
The incorporation of Ana Barrón as oenologist has undoubtedly been key, as well as the ecological advice of Xavier Ausás. Both are responsible, together with the prestigious vineyard cartographer David Pernet, for the division they have made of the 52 hectares that make up La Hacienda Pradolagar, which have been divided into 32 plots according to soil type, climate and variety.
His Reserva is a blend of Tempranillo, Garnacha and Mazuelo, harvested by hand and aged for almost two years in French oak barrels.
Despite being a vintage considered difficult, its freshness and balance are surprising. Expressive and aromatic, the fruit is the protagonist of a complex nose in a wine with great structure that is enjoyed from the first sip. A palpable proof that work and knowledge prevail over the vintages.
