On her new album, Maite Kelly (44) takes her fans on a musical journey “full of real emotions, pure liveliness and limitless freedom” and showers them with nothing other than love. Whether backed by crisp electronic beats or in a gentler singer-songwriter style, each of the songs on their new work is in some way about the most beautiful topic in the world. In an interview with the news agency spot on news, the pop singer reveals why she simply can’t help it.
Maite Kelly: Love was to blame. On everything. Again and again. I can’t get past it. No matter how hard I try.
Kelly: That’s not a fair question. Because that doesn’t work for me at all. I don’t have any favorite children either. It breaks my heart to even think about having to choose. I love them all.
Kelly: I always write from life. Sometimes there are actually songs whose contents only occur to me afterwards. That is sometimes frightening. But it’s actually the case that songs that I thought when I was writing had nothing to do with my life, but that rhymes so beautifully – that happened to me afterwards. So, I fall for my own songs myself.
Kelly: Unfortunately – or fortunately – I’ve already had the best one in my life. And he will always remain the best. An emperor only happens once in your life.
Kelly: My fans are the greatest love of my life – after my children. I think it’s okay to put my children first. Then the fans come, then nothing comes for a long time, then my manager, my dog… and my people!
