Premiere of “Let’s Dance” on May 10, 2024. For the first time, RTL is not broadcasting the dance show from the studio in Cologne-Ossendorf. Instead, the moderation duo Daniel Hartwich (45) and Victoria Swarovski (30) broadcast from the Musical Dome. The musical “Moulin Rouge!” is running in the venue, also in Cologne.
The quarter-finals of “Let’s Dance” take place in the backdrop, which is based on the famous Paris variety show. The five remaining couples then dance to songs from the musical, which is based on the 2001 film of the same name by Baz Luhrmann (61). The jury desk is transferred from the studio to the Musical Dome. Jorge González (56), Motsi Mabuse (43) and Joachim Llambi (59) will give their reviews as usual at the desk.
“We are looking forward to a great quarter-final, which will take place outside the TV studio for the first time in the history of ‘Let’s Dance’,” says RTL entertainment director Markus Küttner in a press release. Henning Pillekamp, managing director of Moulin Rouge Musical Productions GmbH, is also celebrating. “No production of ‘Moulin Rouge! The Musical’ anywhere in the world has hosted a live TV show,” the press release quoted him as saying.
“This of course brings with it completely new requirements and processes. All departments here are currently working at full speed and we can hardly wait to present this gigantic result to the television audience as a world premiere,” continued Pillekamp. The ensemble of “Moulin Rouge! The Musical” gets a stage on television through “Let’s Dance”. It opens broadcast on RTL (also on RTL) on May 10th.
“Moulin Rouge! The Musical” premiered in Boston in 2018, and moved to Broadway in New York a year later. Since November 6, 2022, the show has been running successfully in Cologne with songs from Adele to Elton John.
Next Friday (May 3rd, 2024) the round of 16 is coming up for “Let’s Dance” – in the RTL studio. The celebrities Detlef Soost (53), Gabriel Kelly (22), Jana Wosnitza (30), Lulu Lewe (31), Mark Keller (58) and Tony Bauer (27) are still in the running.
