Lena Meyer-Landrut (32) has learned to build up healthy selfishness in order to protect herself. The singer reports on the “RPR1” radio show “Music Made in Germany”.

“The young generation shows us very well how to do it, they show us how it’s done,” says Meyer-Landrut in the interview. “Selfcare – I don’t like the word – but selfcare is very important. This healthy egoism, which you have to learn to live, ensures that you simply have more strength and more power and don’t constantly have the feeling of burnout hovering over you. “

In 2019, Lena announced that she would be taking an indefinite break. At that time, too, she described on Instagram that she was often guided by external influences and did not always listen to her inner voice. The busy singer, designer and “The Voice Kids” judge has apparently changed that. “It’s just totally the awesome recipe,” she says in the new interview about the progress. And further: “We just have to take care of ourselves so that we don’t go crazy and everyone gets really sick.”

Meyer-Landrut also cites a concrete example: “I was in such a situation just yesterday and am now giving a very honest insight: I started working at 4:00 a.m., gave interviews all day, then drove to the airport to go to the airport next job and the flight was delayed. I was so drained. I was really fucked up.”

This time she took action and canceled an extra job in the evening, telling her team: “I’ll just be honest with you guys right now. I could come, but I feel like I’m about to cross a line and I I don’t think it would do me any good physically to do this now. I don’t take any drugs that kind of push me up, I’m sober and I just have a body feeling that says: Stop!”

You then have to deal with the fact that the other side is disappointed and sad, Meyer-Landrut continues: “But health comes first and feeling for yourself too and you have to learn that. Endure saying ‘no’.”

Lena Meyer-Landrut also announced in the conversation that she wanted to release a new album early next year. “I also have a different sense of presence now. This ‘hiding a bit’ felt good and I think it was also important for me, but now I’m in the mood to be a little more out there again.”
