After the “Barbie” success, Margot Robbie (33) could embody her Australian colleague Kylie Minogue (55). At least when it comes to the singer and actress. In a new interview with E! News, the pop superstar revealed she would love to be played by Robbie in a biopic about her life and career.
“Margot Robbie – in my dreams,” the 55-year-old told the broadcaster with a laugh, pointing out that both she and the 33-year-old were Australians. “She would have the Australian accent, that’s for sure.”
No film about Minogue has been announced yet. But the life and career of the “Padam Padam” singer might suit you. The artist has been working successfully in the fields of music, television and film since the mid-1980s.
Until a filmmaker decides to take on the project, Minogue will celebrate her life story with an upcoming Las Vegas show series (residency) at The Venetian Resort, beginning November 3 at the hotel’s new Voltaire venue.
Last week she told reporters, including People magazine, about her decision to take on the residency. “I figured years ago that I want to do this when I’m younger, I don’t want to do it when I’m at the end of my career,” Minogue said.
Minogue’s new show is set to feature songs from her upcoming sixteenth album, Tension, and will cover the biggest hits of her four-decade career. The show has been in development for nearly three years and is her first concert series in the United States since 2011.
“I want it to be the essence of what a Kylie show has become, so lots of glamor and dedication,” she said of what fans can expect. “I have some versions of songs that you’ve never heard before, reinterpretations of songs, which is very exciting. Live band and dancers, great costumes. That’s the basis – and then we’ll see what surprises we can come up with permit.”
She will be the first headliner at Voltaire, a 1,000-seat venue that promises to blur the lines between an intimate club, concert and entertainment venue. “I’m so grateful to be part of the founding process,” said Minogue. “It’s just so exciting that we’re going to create something new.”
