Concern for King Harald V of Norway (86): The monarch is again in the hospital, as the palace announced in a press release on Monday (May 8). Accordingly, he is being treated there for an infection and has to stay in the clinic for “a few days”.

“The king has been diagnosed with an infection that requires treatment and will therefore remain in hospital for a few days,” the statement said. However, the condition of the 86-year-old monarch is “stable”. The king is lying in Rikshospitalet, Oslo’s main hospital. Further details were not disclosed.

King Harald has repeatedly been treated in the hospital in recent years. Already in December he was fighting an infection. Another stay followed in August – the trigger was also an infection. In March 2022, Harald V. tested positive for the corona virus. In 2020, the monarch underwent surgery to replace a heart valve. He was previously hospitalized for breathing difficulties.

King Harald V of Norway ascended the throne after the death of his father, King Olav V, in 1991. The heir to the throne is Prince Haakon (49), who has stood in for his father in the past and has taken over from King Harald .
