For three days in early May, the whole of Great Britain celebrated the coronation of King Charles III. (74) and Queen Camilla (75). In a few weeks the British royals will continue in Scotland. Further processions and a service are planned for July 5 in the capital Edinburgh, as the Scottish government has now announced.

Charles III Accordingly, the Scottish crown jewels, the royal insignia, are presented during the service in St. Giles’ Cathedral. These are first to be brought in a procession from Edinburgh Castle to the cathedral. In addition to the Royal Regiment of Scotland, 100 people also take part, who are supposed to represent different aspects of Scottish life.

The King and Queen set out in another procession along the so-called Royal Mile from Holyroodhouse Palace to St Giles’ Cathedral. Gun salutes are to be sounded from Edinburgh Castle after the service before heading back to the palace for the royal procession.

The Duke and Duchess of Rothesay are also said to be present. This means Prince William (40) and Princess Kate (41) – they are their official titles in Scotland. As already announced in April, Charles III. will also welcome guests in the garden of Holyroodhouse Palace in Edinburgh as part of a traditional garden party on July 4th.
