King Charles III (73) met Liz Truss (47) on Wednesday (October 12) at Buckingham Palace. According to a video from “ITV News”, the Prime Minister greeted the monarch with a curtsy and the words: “Your Majesty. Nice to see you again.” King Charles III then asked: “Are you back?” It was “a great pleasure” for her, Truss emphasized again. “Oh dear, oh dear”, replied the king. After the unsuccessful greeting, however, he quickly went about his business and said: “Whatever… now”.

The meeting is “the first regular weekly audience”, as the palace writes on Instagram. The king and the prime minister meet on Wednesdays. Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022) maintained this tradition for over 70 years until her death in September.

But the audience was not only caused by the unusual reaction of King Charles III. for conversation. The Prime Minister’s curtsey also made waves on social media. “Why is she like that? She needs a few lessons on how a curtsy works” or “You have to practice more Lizzy” were the comments. At a meeting with the king in September, Truss had to put up with malicious comments online because of an apparently awkward kink.

In the background, attentive eyes also saw a collection of royal family photos. In addition to a portrait of his late mother, King Charles III. also the official wedding photo of Prince Harry (38) and Duchess Meghan (41). This despite the two stepping down as senior royals in early 2020 and there have been repeated reports of alleged disputes.
