Elon Musk (52) has restored the X account – formerly Twitter – of Kanye West (46). The US rapper was blocked in December for offensive tweets. Among other things, he had previously tweeted a picture of a swastika and made anti-Semitic jokes.
The musician’s account now shows his last post from December 1st, a day before his account was suspended from platform X – the new name given to Twitter by owner Elon Musk.
X restored Ye – as West is now officially known – to his account after he assured that he would not use the platform to disseminate anti-Semitic or otherwise harmful language. This is reported by The Wall Street Journal, citing a person familiar with the matter.
Ye hasn’t posted anything new since returning to the platform.
The billionaire owner of X, who describes himself as a free speech advocate, welcomed the rapper’s return to the platform in October after his account was reactivated for the first time.
Musk also previously unblocked former US President Donald Trump’s (77) account after conducting a poll in which around 14.8 million Twitter users voted. 51.8 percent voted for reactivation. However, Trump had stated that he had no interest in returning to Twitter and would stick with his new platform, Truth Social.
