The 74th edition of the International Film Festival in Berlin is about to begin. This year’s jury met on Thursday afternoon for the first photo shoot before the Berlinale opens in the evening. Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o (40) particularly stands out because of her extravagant headdress. The Kenyan actress is acting as jury president this year and will decide on the awarding of the Golden and Silver Bears.
In Berlin, the 40-year-old beamed in a light gray pants suit with a waist belt and a white shirt. She also wore a pair of white, open-toed peep-toe pumps and a striking headpiece made of white shells. Nyong’o also opted for small, discreet creoles. When it came to make-up, the actress highlighted her eyes with dark eyeshadow and her lips with berry lipstick.
Incidentally, Nyong’o is considered one of the 50 most powerful women in Africa according to Forbes magazine. In 2014, she won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in the drama “12 Years a Slave.”
In addition to the Kenyan actress, the other jury members Brady Corbet (35), Jasmine Trinca (42), Christian Petzold (63), Ann Hui (76), Albert Serra (48) and Oksana Zabuzhko (63) also posed for them on Thursday afternoon photographers.
The 74th edition of the event opens on Thursday evening with the film “Small Things Like These” with Cillian Murphy (47), who can hope for an Oscar in March – he is nominated for “Oppenheimer” in the “Best Actor” category. The Berlinale 2024 will take place from February 15th to February 25th. A total of 20 films are in the running for the Golden Bear. Star director Martin Scorsese (81) will receive the Honorary Golden Bear this year.
