On July 4, 1862, two deacons, thirty-somethings take three sisters 8, 10 and 13 years old, pretty chewable, canoeing on the river Thames. This is Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, who has taken Lewis Carroll as pen name, and his friend Robinson Duckworth. The three girls, Alice, Edith and Lorina, were the daughters of Henry Liddell, dean of Christ Church College and the greatest hellenist of his time ! The program of the day : a picnic.
