The incumbent US President Joe Biden (80) has declared his candidacy for the White House again. In a video published on Twitter, he announced a fight for personal freedoms, which are traditionally valued in the United States, as the central campaign issue. “Every generation experiences a moment when it has to stand up for democracy and its basic freedoms. I think this is ours,” Biden wrote on the short message service for pictures of Donald Trump (76), the so-called storming of the US -Capitol as well as demonstrations for the right to abortion.
Biden’s former competitor Donald Trump has already announced his candidacy for the Republicans. Should Trump prevail in the internal party primaries, the duel of 2020 between the 45th and 46th Presidents of the United States would be repeated in 2024. At the end of a possible second term, Biden would be 86 years old.
