The theme of the 2022 White House Christmas decorations, chosen by First Lady Jill Biden (71), is “We the People”, the first words of the American Constitution. “For this holiday season in the White House, we hope to capture the spirit embodied in the idea of America: We the People,” said the wife of US President Joe Biden (80).
According to US media reports, more than 150 volunteers worked for a week to decorate the White House for the holiday season. In all, the Washington Headquarters’ Christmas display includes 77 trees and 83,615 Christmas lights. There are also 25 Christmas wreaths hanging on the north and south facades of the White House. More than 50,000 visitors are expected.
In the banquet hall, the stockings by the fireplace bear the names of the Bidens’ grandchildren. For the first time there is a stocking for Peter Neal (25), whom Biden’s granddaughter Naomi (28) married in mid-November. The Bidens’ pets, Commander the dog and Willow the cat, also have their Christmas stocking.
