Fans had to wait a long time for this confirmation: the Oscar-winning US rapper Common (51) and the EGOT legend Jennifer Hudson (42) are a couple. At least that’s what an appearance by the musician on the 42-year-old’s talk show, “The Jennifer Hudson Show”, more than suggests. There he was questioned about his relationship status by the hostess, who is presumably his girlfriend, and Common replied with a smile: “I’m in a relationship with one of the most beautiful people I’ve ever met in my life. She’s smart, she loves God, there’s something really down to earth about her and she’s talented.”
Of course, the local audience immediately understood the irony and reacted to the love outing with great cheers, even though Common didn’t mention Hudson’s name. But his statement is still clear: his partner has EGOT status, i.e. an Emmy, Grammy, Tony and Oscar, she also has her own talk show and has already won the Oscar for her first film. All attributes that basically only apply to Jennifer Hudson, who won an Oscar in 2007 for her first role in the musical film “Dreamgirls”. It also makes him happy to see his partner happy, said Common, whose real name is Lonnie Rashid Lynn, grinning from ear to ear. The rapper also asked the love question to Hudson, who then also confirmed that she was in a committed relationship.
The first rumors about a relationship between the two arose in the summer of 2022, when the Chicago natives were seen together in their hometown. The singer and actress regularly dismissed subsequent questions about Common in interviews and denied a relationship with her colleague. She only admitted that she had gone out to dinner with him on the sidelines of filming together.
Nevertheless, the two were photographed again and again in different places in a very familiar way, sometimes holding hands. Just a few days ago – on January 17, 2024 – Hudson and Common once again attended an NBA basketball game together, this time between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Dallas Mavericks.
