Julia Roberts is a mother of three, but her two oldest have moved out to go to college. An unusual situation for the actress, who now only has her 16-year-old son Henry and her husband Danny Moder at home. The 19-year-old twins Hazel and Phinnaeus are apparently still being cared for by their mother outside the home.
In an interview with Today magazine, she spoke about her methods of raising the young twins: “I raise them outside the house the same way I raised them at home, which is: Are you getting enough sleep? It sounds like, like you’re sick. Are you drinking enough tea? Text me when you get home. I want to see you’re home safe and sound,” the Oscar winner said.
Her twins allowed Roberts to continue to mother them: “I have a lot of respect for my two older children because they still allow me to be the same mother to them without an eye roll. There is a great level of understanding,” says the 56 year old. Roberts herself travels a lot for her job; at the end of November she was on a promotional tour for her new Netflix film “Leave the World Behind”. The family often has no choice but to call each other via Face Time.
But there are still clear smartphone rules at Roberts: “We have a charging station to which all phones are connected when you get home. There are definitely no phones at the table.”
Perhaps continued maternal care is also essential for Roberts, as she has already tried out one or two things in life. In a TV interview with host Andy Cohen on the show “Watch What Happens” the actress now had to face the game “Plead the Fifth”. A game in which the guest has to answer two out of three questions asked. Cohen asked her, “Julia Roberts, what’s the hardest drug you’ve ever tried?”, she hesitated and then replied, “Mushrooms.” The presenter asked if she had a positive experience with the magic mushrooms, she replied in the affirmative, laughed and said: “It was nice, I’m not going to lie. Kids, don’t try it at home”.
