It’s actually nothing new: that most of the things that spoil our everyday lives are a matter for the mind. That we mostly do not see the world as it is, but as we are. Or that we cannot change others, but are still willing to try. Nevertheless, we often do not let go of it, but let ourselves be controlled by worries or stressful thoughts. In his book “Unfog Your Mind”, Leander Greitemann tries to teach us how we can work on ourselves and manage to free ourselves from it.
Of course, the book is no guarantee that it will work and that you will feel less stressed or free after reading and doing the exercises. But: The book provides practical help in constantly changing one’s perspective and questioning deadlocked thoughts – an important step in breaking out of mental routines.
Leander Greitemann gently takes the readers by the hand without admonishing with a raised index finger. Instead, he shows in which directions you can direct your thoughts. Because we often only use one. As you read and practice, it becomes clear that the fact that we are often unhappy is mostly due to the way we think – and often not to the external circumstances, people or things with which we surround ourselves. We can’t change them anyway, but how we think and approach life, we can. “Unfog Your Mind” makes that wonderfully clear.
The author writes in an understandable way, the book is structured very interactively, provides stories, experiments, life hacks and new perspectives on many different situations and is therefore never boring or plodded along. An example of an experiment: Think about thanking the people who made sure that the seat you are sitting on came to you. What resources had to be processed, who designed it, who delivered it? A short exercise that can already lead to more gratitude and a more open mind.
Anyone who takes the book as an aid to their own attitude to life, their way of thinking and to work on deadlocked thoughts is very well advised. It can be an impetus to actually learn to feel freer and experience more lightness and love of life and to focus on what we can really influence: our inner self. And so the book can have a real impact on our lives.
