Emily Ratajkowski has only spoken indirectly about her separation from her husband Sebastian Bear-McClard in the past. For example, she hinted on Tik Tok that he cheated on her. But she hasn’t spoken as clearly as now about her time as a new single. She is enjoying her new life to the fullest.
“It’s crazy. It’s so beautiful, honestly. I don’t owe anyone anything except my son, that’s the only man,” she said on the Today show. She has spent most of her adult life in relationships. The change is all the nicer, explained Ratajkowski. “Can we swear on this show? I was joking that I’m in my b**** era,” she said, directly explaining why the word applied to her. “I like that word because I feel like I’m repurposing it. It has a negative connotation to it. But again, to me it’s a good thing. [Like] ‘I don’t put up with that shit. ‘”
It seems like she’s spent a lot of time reviewing herself and her habits over the past few months. So she said on the show that the relationships were also a kind of protection. “I think it was a way for me to protect myself. I got into a really crazy industry and I worked in a really crazy industry where (…) there are a lot of scary men,” she explained 31 year old.
Ratajkowski is best known for appearing in the video for Robin Thicke’s hit song Blurred Lines. A traumatic experience, as she later reported. In her autobiography My Body, Emily Ratajkowski described how musician Robin Thicke allegedly molested her on set: “Suddenly, out of nowhere, I felt the coolness and strangeness of a stranger’s hands cupping my bare breasts from behind. “
Director Diane Martel testified to Ratajkowski’s account. “I remember the moment he grabbed her breasts,” she told the Sunday Times. “One in each hand. He stood behind her as they both stood in profile. I screamed in my very aggressive Brooklyn voice, ‘What the hell are you doing, that’s it! Shooting is over!'”
In September, Ratajkowski filed for divorce from Bear-McClard. The ex-couple married in a New York registry office in 2018.
