Britney Spears and Elton John have released the official music video for their song “Hold Me Closer”. In the colorful clip, which appeared on YouTube on Tuesday evening, the two stars do not perform themselves – instead, the performances of several dancing couples can be seen. Ukrainian music video director Tanu Muino was shooting in Mexico City, according to a statement accompanying the video. The aim was therefore to capture an intimacy “that the world is missing so much due to the turmoil and chaos of recent times”.
“I knew the audience and fans would have a lot of emotional expectations for this video. With that responsibility, I had to do something different and unexpected,” Muino said, according to the release. With the dance in the video, she wanted to make John and Spears proud. The joint song of the two musicians had already been published in August. It’s a remake of John’s 1971 hit Tiny Dancer.
She said working on the video was emotional because she grew up listening to Spears’ music. “After seeing Slave For You, I decided I wanted to be a video director.” The 32-year-old director has previously worked with Harry Styles and rapper Lil Nas X.
