One of the most famous magic students in the world is set to return to television screens: the US company Warner Bros. Discovery wants to produce the first series of the “Harry Potter” saga. As the company announced on Wednesday (local time), the series will be a faithful adaptation of the books by writer J.K. be Rowling. It will later be broadcast on Max, the company’s streaming service.
According to Warner Bros. Discovery, the series about the magical world of the Hogwarts School of Magic should extend over a total of ten years with the stories from each of the seven books. A new cast is planned, “Harry Potter” creator Rowling is said to be executive producer.
“I’m excited to be a part of this new adaptation, which allows for a level of depth and detail that only a long-running television series can provide,” she said. It was not initially known when the series would be filmed.
The first “Harry Potter” volume was released on June 26, 1997. To date, the seven volumes have sold more than 450 million copies around the world and have been translated into 79 languages. The novels were filmed in eight parts, which brought in around 6.5 billion euros at the box office worldwide.
