Pop singer Dieter Thomas Kuhn reports that he fueled his own daughter’s prom with a short stage appearance. “There were 100 high school graduates, I only had the guitar and my guitarist with me and we performed four songs at the request of the organizers,” says the 58-year-old from Tübingen, who has been successful with his Schlager cover versions for three decades and is about to a new tour with three open-air and two indoor concerts. “They completely freaked out, they sang along, they knew it. I was quite amazed that they felt like singing along “Greek Wine” and “Above the Clouds”.

Kuhn, a trained masseur and medical lifeguard, traditionally appears in bright 1970s-style suits with flared trousers, platform shoes and wide lapels on the jacket. At the daughter’s graduation ball, however, he stood on the stage in civilian clothes. “It wasn’t enough for the Föhn wave anymore.”

The next three open-air concerts of his “Hello Again! Too long was the time” tour at the Wasen in Stuttgart (July 22nd), at the Hamburg wholesale market (August 11th) and the Berlin Waldbühne are sold out, and will close in September further appearances in Cologne (22.9.) and Mannheim (23.9.).
