Hillary Clinton (74) supports Sanna Marin (36) via Twitter. On the social platform, the former US presidential candidate posted a picture that shows her dancing – during her time as secretary of state. She is alluding to the scandal surrounding the Finnish prime minister. Party videos of the head of government circulating on social media had sparked a debate as to whether an office-holder should be allowed to party in the middle of a crisis.

Alongside the picture, taken in Cartagena, Colombia in 2012, Clinton wrote a quote from politician Ann Richards (1933-2006) about dancer Ginger Rogers (1911-1995): “Ginger Rogers did everything Fred Astaire did. She only has it backwards and in made in high heels.”

Then the former First Lady wrote an unmistakable solidarity address to the Finnish colleague: “Keep dancing, Sanna Marin”. She thanked her via Twitter.

In the last few weeks, several videos have appeared showing Sanna Marin partying, dancing and singing. This was followed by criticism from the opposition, some saw the dignity of the office damaged and feared a violation of official duties. The prime minister voluntarily took a drug test, which was negative.

Several politicians had defended Marin, including German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock.
