The spooky and beautiful time of the year is almost here again – Halloween! On October 31st we transform into scary characters, dance to Michael Jackson’s Thriller at parties and awaken our spirits with scary drinks. But before you start haunting the dance floor, you need the right outfit. Choosing a costume for Halloween is a challenge every year. Because it should be original. If you want to attract attention, you should take a look at this year’s pop culture events.
Film and television characters in particular have served as popular templates for Halloween costumes for decades. In the 1980s, costumes of characters such as Michael Jackson from his “Thriller” music video, E.T. from the film “E.T. – The Extra-Terrestrial” and the “Ghostbusters” are very popular. In the following decade it was the “Power Rangers”, “Ninja Turtles” and “Matrix” characters. Then, in the early 2000s, costumes of Harry Potter, the characters from “The Lord of the Rings” and the “Star Wars” series followed. Most recently, people in “Game of Thrones,” horror clowns, or “Money Heist” costumes were up to mischief on the dance floor. What’s hot this year?
Many fans are already eagerly awaiting the next season of a popular teen horror series. We’re talking about “Wednesday”. The second season of the successful series is scheduled to start in 2024. The Plot: Wednesday Addams is a student at a boarding school for outcasts. At first she finds everything very boring, but then a series of murders terrifies the city. The character is known for her cool look, her jet black hair, straight bangs, braids on the right and left. The “Wednesday” outfit is complete with an American school uniform or a gothic dress. Of course, “Ice Cold Hand” should not be missing as a Halloween accompaniment. A complete package consisting of a wig, dress, belt and shoes is available for around 40 euros.
Until a few months ago we couldn’t avoid one color: pink! Everything was in the spirit of Barbie. Posters everywhere, photo boxes that looked like Barbie boxes, pink clothes in shops and, and, and. Because in July, Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” opened in cinemas and celebrated the most successful cinema debut of the year. So it’s clear that this important pop cultural event will be celebrated again on Halloween. The most famous outfit from the film may be Margot Robbie’s cowboy look. The costume is already available for around 30 euros. And with a few red spots and scary make-up, the brightly colored outfit becomes a scary horror eye-catcher. At the same time as Barbie, Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer opened in cinemas and competed with the blonde doll for number one in the cinema charts. The film is about the physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, who was instrumental in the top-secret Manhattan Project. Oppenheimer worked with other scientists for years to develop the atomic bomb.
At the time of the cinema release there was no getting around a meme: the well-known portrait of Cillian Murphy, who plays Oppenheimer, with a black hat, a serious look and a cigarette in his mouth. Oppenheimer’s look can be created with a few simple items of clothing: hat, shirt, tie, suspenders, jacket, suit pants – if you feel like it, you can smoke a classic pipe that evening to complete the Oppenheimer outfit.
