Henry Cavill’s (39) planned short appearance as Superman in “The Flash” will probably fall victim to the scissors. At least that’s what US media suspect after the Briton lost the superhero role in the cinematic DC Universe. Cavill was supposed to appear in the “Flash” solo film planned for June 2023. The cameo appearance is said to have already been filmed, but it probably won’t appear in the film.
Henry Cavill starred in the last DC Universe film. In “Black Adam”, Superman also stopped by in a cameo. That was in October 2022. That same month, Cavill vowed to make a big return in an enthusiastic video on Instagram.
But just a few weeks later, the actor had to backtrack. Also on Instagram, Cavill announced that he is being replaced as Superman. The new bosses of the DC Universe, James Gunn (56) and Peter Safran (57), are probably planning a reboot with a younger actor. Guardians of the Galaxy director Gunn, who recently joined DC from Marvel, is working on a Superman script. When Cavill celebrated his return in October, Gunn and Safran were not yet in office. The new double leadership had to take a lot of criticism on the net for the dismissal of Cavill.
Henry Cavill took his resignation sportily. “The changing of the guard is something that happens. I respect that. James and Peter have a universe to build.” According to “The Hollywood Reporter”, those responsible are said to have vaguely promised him another role.
Along with Superman, Wonder Woman is also a victim of Gunn and Safran’s realignment. At least in the incarnation of Gal Gadot (37). A planned third Wonder Woman film has already been put on hold. Gal Gadot is said to have directed a cameo for “The Flash” like Henry Cavill. Fans will probably never see this performance either.
