Mother and daughter have been spending their everyday lives 4,000 kilometers away from each other for a year. While Heidi Klum (50) lives in Los Angeles with her three younger children and husband Tom Kaulitz (34), her firstborn Leni Klum (19) is studying interior design in New York. Of course they still have contact. “We FaceTime a lot. Especially when I miss my mother,” says the 19-year-old in a double interview with the magazine “Gala” on the sidelines of the joint campaign launch for the Italian fashion label Intimissimi in Berlin.
The “GNTM” boss and the young model also reveal how different they are. This difference could even be a reason for the subject, Heidi Klum speculates. “It’s probably because she grew up in my house in L.A. in a very colorful, mixed-up environment and that made her want to live in a completely different style and do everything differently.” Leni Klum doesn’t completely deny it: “The house is really very colorful. I need a contrast in my own home, so it’s all white and minimalistically furnished. There’s hardly any decoration – apart from a photo of mom and me. ” Photos in the magazine show the student’s extremely bright and brightly furnished penthouse apartment and her mother’s colorful home.
Heidi and Leni’s approach to clothing and accessories is also very different. While these now spread across several rooms and the basement in Heidi’s house – “I find it difficult to clear out” – Leni only has things in the apartment “that I actually wear and that are comfortable”. By the way, fashion pieces from her mother are not among them. “No, our taste in fashion is completely different. I love it loud and flashy,” says Heidi Klum once again. Leni, on the other hand, is more into muted colors. “My mother and I couldn’t be more opposite,” she says and points to one exception: She wouldn’t say “no” to Heidi’s accessories, “she has good taste,” praises her little daughter.
Mama Klum wasn’t asked about the color design in Leni’s apartment, but she was asked when she started working as a model and influencer three years ago. She gave the newcomer a particularly important tip: “Always stay positive, enjoy the time and be as confident as possible on set,” says Leni, adding that it also helped her a lot to be with her mother from a young age Watching work. “She’s always happy, I try to be that way too. It’s a job, but the fun shouldn’t be neglected,” the young model has long known.
The two have modeled together for the underwear campaign for the fourth time. This makes mom Heidi especially happy. “It shows me how self-confident I have raised my child,” she enthuses, adding with a laugh: “She is proud to stand next to her old mother in lingerie.”
