“I left my life behind – I learned to surf (badly), I rode horses (that worked better), I did a lot of therapy,” Watson wrote on Instagram in celebration of her 33rd birthday. It’s the actress’ first post in months on social media. In the text, she tells of a healing time-out during which she rearranged herself and learned a lot about herself.
“It took three years, but I’ve finally found a daily routine that I can stick to for more than a few days at a time.” She feels like a butterfly today after not being ready to emerge from her “Covid cocoon” on her birthday last year.
In the past few months, she has teamed up with her younger brother Alex Watson for a new project called Renais and adopted a dog named Sofia from Mexico. Sadly, she also had to say goodbye to her grandmother and grandfather during this time, not the only thing she had to process. She was “very sad and really angry about a lot of things”. But she also learned “more about love” and what it means “to be a woman”.
Her younger brother Alex also congratulated her on her birthday with a sweet Instagram post. For a child picture of himself and Emma he wrote: “For Ems, the happiest of all birthdays to the best of all older sisters! I wish you a wonderful day and can’t wait to see what you achieve this year.” He also shared a hilarious pros and cons list of what it means to have Emma as a big sister. One of the disadvantages he cited was that he was always referred to as the “hairier version” of her.
