The new season of the popular doctor and mountain series “Der Bergdoktor” starts today, Thursday (December 29) at 8:15 p.m. on ZDF with the episode “Paradies”. During the breaks in shooting, the series stars Hans Sigl (53) and Mark Keller (57) liked to entertain their Instagram followers with live broadcasts and posts together. In a double interview with spot on news, the two artists explain why they like making these improvised and entertaining clips and how close this bromance really is.
Hans Sigl: It’s great fun because it’s always a nice exchange with the followers. We like to give common signs of life from the set of us.
Mark Keller: Definitely Hans, he’s the improv world champion…
Sigl: … and Mark is the Improv Vice World Champion. But we also like to improvise on the “Bergdoktor” set. But of course we can only do that during rehearsals. When the director comes…
Keller: …then that’s it. Then of course we’ll stick to what’s in the script to the letter.
Sigl: Yes, there were already three “crime scenes”, two in Ludwigshafen and then this crossover “The Team”. In this respect, well-known formats have already been provided with improv. However, this is a great art and you have to agree well beforehand about where the journey is going. In an improv format, the work is done differently than in our series, for example. In the evening you look at the resulting material and decide how to continue the next day. That wouldn’t be possible with us, because we shoot across the books of the individual episodes and always need the connections to the ongoing story.
Sigl: Yes, you can certainly say that. We’re basically BFFs in Newspeak, too. We’ve known each other for 16 years now and are very friendly.
Keller: We are definitely friends privately too, 16 years simply connect. Some marriages didn’t last as long as our friendship.
Sign: That’s right.
Sigl: This is dance art at it’s best. This also closes the circle of this interview, because this is pure improv dance. If Mark Keller and his sons didn’t exist, they’d have to be invented.
Keller: Thank you, thank you!
Sign: No. I can’t keep up with that. In this respect, I prefer to stand by and watch with pleasure how well my colleagues dance. I will never ascend to this Olympus.
Keller: This is actually intended for TikTok, so it has to be short. We’re just doing it for entertainment anyway.
Sigl: I wouldn’t put it that way. They were simply beautiful formats that were offered to me and then I really enjoy doing them. All three were really good fun. I don’t know what’s coming next year and I’m completely relaxed about it.
Keller: By the way, I can only confirm his talent for moderation. I even believe that you will have a great career as an entertainer and moderator – ideally even with your own Saturday night show. He can sing, dance, speak – and that doesn’t happen very often in Germany.
Sigl: It really turned out to be a great show. For me, the exciting thing was that we celebrated New Year’s Eve during the recording in November. I was wondering if that would work beforehand. But the fabulous crowd at the Baden-Arena in Offenburg partied so hard that it was really fun counting down with them. After that we all actually wished each other “a happy new year”, because the mood was really accordingly. That was nice.
Keller: I prefer it smaller and quieter, we party all year round.
Sigl: It’s the same with me.
Sigl: At the end of April we will start shooting eight new “Bergdoktor” films, and of course we won’t tell you what surprises they have in store, otherwise they wouldn’t be surprises anymore.
Keller: And I’m also very happy that my first album “Mein kleine Glück” will be released at the end of February. Finally, I’ve been waiting for this for a long time.
Sigl: I am indeed very much looking forward to that. I was really excited about the creation and now we finally have it ready.
