On January 7th, Halle Bailey (23) revealed that she became a mother last year. The actress has now revealed why she preferred to keep her pregnancy a secret despite some speculation.
The Little Mermaid star took to Snapchat to answer some questions from fans. The 23-year-old explained that she “just wanted to make sure” that she “had a nice, private and healthy time” during her pregnancy. She also thanked fans for being “so kind and understanding,” especially for her decision to “wait to share something so sacred and beautiful.” How did she manage to keep the news private? “Honestly, I stayed away from all social media. I was really trying to stay sane and I know there were a lot of people who always commented, ‘We know, girl, we know.’ And I thought, ‘Okay, that’s great that you know that, but I’m just going to relax.'”
But she hasn’t hidden in the past few months. “I think I just realized that it was helpful for me to be able to continue to work and promote something, like the beautiful film I was in,” she explained, referring to her film “The Color Purple”, which was released on December 25, 2023. “It just helps my brain and me feel healthy…”
Bailey sparked pregnancy speculation in September 2023 when she attended the MTV Video Music Awards in a flowing dress. Fans were then sure she was hiding a baby bump as she walked the carpet at the Glamor Women of the Year Awards in London in a fluffy black dress in October. She also wore a red, voluminous dress at the premiere of “The Color Purple” in early December, which further fueled speculation.
Not long afterwards, Halle Bailey welcomed her little boy with rapper boyfriend DDG (26). On Instagram, she captioned a photo with a baby’s hand: “Even though the new year is already a few days old, the greatest thing 2023 could have done for me was to bring me my son. Welcome to the world, my halo. The World really wants to get to know you.” She is now letting her fans know about her pregnancy. Last week she shared a glimpse of her baby bump and captioned an underwater video: “Missing my bump already. But I obviously had to take underwater pictures.” She was referring to her most successful role to date as “Arielle”. She later also posted a TikTok video in which she dances with her bare baby bump.
Halle Bailey and her boyfriend DDG have been together for almost two years. Their relationship became official on Instagram in March 2022, when the founder of the record label Zooted Music posted a post on R’s birthday
