Crown Prince Haakon of Norway celebrates his birthday on July 20th, followed by his wife Mette-Marit on August 19th. Both will be 50 this year and want to honor the double anniversary accordingly. The plans of the crown prince couple have now been announced in a statement from the royal family.
In addition to a birthday party in August, to which the two invite “guests from all over the country” and which is announced as a “backyard party in the castle”, several trips are planned throughout the year starting in spring. “The five journeys together will be a story about different parts of our society – about old Norway and new Norway, about who we are and what shaped us as a people,” the statement reads.
In February we go to Stord, later to Setesdal (March), Finnmark (April), Træna (May) and Oslo (June). In the Norwegian capital, the couple will meet, among other things, Oslo writers and musicians and learn more about city and cultural life. At the previous stations you will visit a shipyard, craft workshops or a fishing village, among other things. As the crowning glory, the crown prince couple would like to take the opportunity at the joint birthday party to “celebrate the Norway that everyone has helped shape together over the past 50 years”. The wedding anniversary of the crown prince couple, August 25, was chosen as the day of the celebration.
