Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg (20) has been fined in her home country. She has to pay the equivalent of 215.50 euros for resisting state authority. In June, together with other activists, she blocked tankers in the port of Malmö and refused to open the road.

The Swedish news agency TT reported that Thunberg was sentenced to 30 daily rates of 50 Swedish kroner (equivalent to around 4.30 euros) for not following police instructions. She also has to pay 1,000 kronor (about 86.50 euros) to a fund to support victims of violence.

In June, the 20-year-old took part in a multi-day climate protest in the Malmö oil port. Among other things, tankers were prevented from leaving the port. Thunberg had reported on the action on social networks. “We don’t just want to watch, we want to physically stop fossil fuel infrastructure. We’re taking back the future,” Thunberg wrote on her Instagram page. She also showed up with a placard that read, “I’m blocking tankers.” Another four activists were also charged. She has not yet commented on the verdict.
