A little over a year ago, the German singer Kim Petras (31) celebrated the greatest success of her career to date: Together with Sam Smith (31), the Cologne-born musician and songwriter won a Grammy in the “Best Pop Duo” category for their hit ” Unholy.” Now Petras has revealed in the British “Cosmopolitan” that she had to go to therapy after this triumph.

This was particularly necessary due to the increased attention surrounding her person. “I needed therapy after I had a big song to learn how to turn everything off,” says Petras. After her great success with “Unholy,” she suddenly “traveled a lot,” and “more eyes were on me than ever before.”

“Nothing can prepare you for this level of attention,” explains Petras. “It was crazy.” However, she was able to get rid of all of this in her therapy discussions. “I recommend therapy to everyone; it is an important tool. The music industry can get very hectic,” said Petras.

The singer, who was the first trans woman to win a Grammy in the “Best Pop Duo” category, has graced the cover of the “Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue” since her success and attended last year’s Met Gala as a guest of Marc Jacobs. Just a few days ago, Petras completed her “Feed the Beast” world tour, which had taken her across a total of three continents since August 2023.
